The Dog\u2019s Bell<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

John\u2019s dog was a bad dog. He bit people frequently<\/strong>. John had great concern<\/strong> about this. It was not an appropriate<\/strong> way for a dog to behave<\/strong>. His friends in the village<\/strong> always expected<\/strong> the dog to bite them. The news about John\u2019s dog spread<\/strong> through the village. None<\/strong> of the people wanted to go to John\u2019s house.<\/p>\n

John tried to instruct<\/strong> the dog to behave, but it never worked. He tried to be patient<\/strong> and teach the dog to be calm<\/strong>. That also didn\u2019t work. John didn\u2019t want to punish<\/strong> the dog. \u201cHow will I stop my dog\u2019s bad habit<\/strong>?\u201d John asked himself.<\/p>\n

John\u2019s friend came to talk to him about the issue<\/strong>. During their important meeting, his friend said, \u201cThe people in the village asked me to represent<\/strong> them.<\/p>\n

We want your dog to stop this habit. Why don\u2019t you put a bell around the dog\u2019s neck? This way, we would hear your dog coming down the street.\u201d John thought this was a great idea. Now, people could stay away from the dog.<\/p>\n

It would not be able to bite anyone anymore. The dog liked the bell, too. People looked at him when they heard his bell. This made the dog very content<\/strong>. He liked the song the bell played when he walked. One day, John\u2019s dog strolled<\/strong> through the village and met some other dogs. He expected them to want a bell like his. But they laughed at his bell. They said the bell made people avoid<\/strong> him. John\u2019s dog shook<\/strong> his head. \u201cNo, they look at me because they like the bell.\u201d<\/p>\n

The other dogs said, \u201cYou have the wrong idea of what makes you popular. Of course they like your bell. It tells them where you are so they can avoid you. You aren\u2019t able to bite them anymore!\u201d
You see, being popular isn\u2019t something positive<\/strong> when it\u2019s for the wrong reason.<\/p>\n
