The Jackal and the Sun Child<\/h1>\n

A jackal is a wild<\/strong> dog with a big black back. It resides<\/strong> in the desert. But how did the jackal get his black back? This was how it happened. One day, the jackal saw a girl. She was sitting upon a rock. She was not a normal<\/strong> child. She was a rare<\/strong> and beautiful sun child.<\/p>\n

She was bright and warm like the sun. The child saw the jackal and smiled. She said, \u201cJackal, I have been relaxing<\/strong> on this rock for too long. I must get home soon. But, I am slow and you are fast. You will likely<\/strong> get me home more quickly.\u201d Then she requested<\/strong>, \u201cWill you carry me home? If you do, I\u2019ll give you a gift. This necklace belongs<\/strong> to me, but I will give it to you.\u201d The wild jackal agreed. So the sun child sat on the dog\u2019s back. They started to walk. But soon, the jackal felt ill. The sun child was very hot on his back.<\/p>\n

The heat was hurting<\/strong> his back very badly<\/strong>. \u201c I made a terrible error<\/strong> in judgment<\/strong>.\u201d he thought. He shouldn\u2019t have agreed to carry her. So he asked her to get off. But she did not. The jackal\u2019s back continued<\/strong> to get hotter and hotter. He had to get away from the sun child. So he made a plan.<\/p>\n

First, he ran as fast as he could. He hoped the sun child would fall off. But she did not. So when the sun child was looking at the sky, not aware<\/strong> of the jackal\u2019s next plan, he jumped into a field<\/strong> of flowers. As a result<\/strong>, the child rolled<\/strong> off his back.<\/p>\n

The jackal ran away. But the sun child left a mark on the jackal\u2019s back, a visible<\/strong> black mark. Ever since<\/strong> his experience<\/strong> with the sun child, the jackal has had a black back.<\/p>\n
